Summary[]
Numbuh 4 really wants to impress his teacher with his homework, but the Six-Gum Gang has orders of taking everyone's homework in the school bus and giving it to their boss(es), the DCFDTL, before it reaches Gallagher Elementary.
Plot[]
Walley and Abigail are waiting for the bus with lots of other Galligar Elementary students. Everyone is sad to go to school, but Numbuh 4 is excited even singing about it, Numbuh 5 asks why he's excited, he declares he did his spelling homework last night. Numbuh 5 was aware of the lousy knowledge from Numbuh 4, so she can assume that he will only get an "F" on his homework. Numbuh 4 goes on boasting his homework accomplishment that he was willing to let Numbuh 5 copy his own homework, but she deduces that the only reason why he did his homework was because they are about to get a new teacher, and believes that Numbuh 4 had a crush on the new teacher. Mrs. Thompson.
However, Numbuh 4 is starting to get worried if his homework doesn't impress the new teacher and tries to make quick adjustments and corrections. The bus, which is in the form of a long train, starts steaming away to Galligar Elementary. As the train bus starts moving, a couple of 6 bandits known as the Six-Gum Gang spotted the vehicle and rides out in their rocket vehicles shaped like carousel horses, chasing after the bus. Lunk, a more bigger member was the first to board the bus train and holds everyone at gunpoint with his bubblegum guns, which is why they are called the Six-Gum Gang (They shoot gum in their victims’ hair).
Meanwhile, Numbuh 4 was busy making corrections until Numbuh 5 notices Dixie out in the window until Lunk and Runt comes into the next cart, demanding everyone to hand over their homework. Runt takes Numbuh 4's homework, and Numbuh 5 takes out a S.P.A.N.K.L.E.R. gun to knock Lunk out of the game. Numbuh 4 chases after Runt on the rooftops until he hops off and take off in the Rocket Horse. However, Numbuh 4 gives a chase after Runt once he hijacks Goof's ride before slamming him into a mailbox.
While Numbuh 4 chases after Runt, Numbuh 5 proceeds up to the driver's cart where she knocked out Wilbur until she confronts Dixie, the robber she saw through the window. Both girls seems like they have a showdown until Numbuh 5 tricks the bus driver into speeding the bus very fast (claiming that it is 9:15), throwing Dixie into the air toward Numbuh 5 who takes out down with her weapon.
Numbuh 4 continues to chase after Runt throughout the neighborhood, but he ended getting gummed and lose his vehicle until he boards Runt's. He was shot with gum to the face, but that ended being a bad decision for Runt as both fight over control of the Rocket Horse vehicle until it crashed into the train bus. The whole bus train was destroyed, and the Six Gum Gang managed to run off with the loot of homework.
Mrs. Thompson was very disappointed with the whole class because none of them had their homework with them except for Delightful Children From Down the Lane who claims that they've done it sixty times to impress the new teacher. She takes out one of the homeworks to demonstrate the class what it means to do the right way, unaware that she inadvertently takes Numbuh 4's homework to see. She was appalled and angry over the DCFDTL for the lack of quality and they ended up receiving detention after school to start making more homework.

Trivia[]
- Numbuh 1, 2, and 3 do not appear during this episode.
- The episode was at some point made into a flash game of the same name.
- The school bus is driven like an old-fashioned steam train in reference to typical Old West robbery films.
- It is evident that Numbuh 4 has a crush on their teacher, Mrs. Thompson. It is demonstrated as he blushes when Numbuh 5 suggests that the only reason he did his homework is because "he thinks the new teacher is cute", and he adopts a sad, big-eyed and flushed expression when Mrs. Thompson says how disappointed she is with the class when none of them showed up with their homework.
- However, it is also implied that Mrs. Thompson is married or engaged, as she has a ring on her finger.
- Lizzie makes a cameo just before Numbuh 4 sat down on the bus.
- This is the first appearance of the Six-Gum Gang and class president James Nixon McGarfield.
- Numbuh 4 is shown to be left handed.
- The S.P.L.A.N.K.E.R.'s acronym is revealed, after already appearing in five episode in the previous two seasons.
- The idea for the episode came from a note by intern Alison Wilgus, which read "Murder on the Orient Express in a Schoolbus."[1]
- Storyboard artist claimed that he would be drawing Numbuh 4 as a drooling mess in the corner of each panel if he got any stupider after this episode.[2]
- The school bus engine on the train is a 2-4-0 tank engine or an American type steam locomotive. Such steam trains like these were used most common on American railroads during the 1800's and 1830's until 1928, and from 1872, were given the name "American" to show how all the work they did on every railroad in the United States. These types of engines have six wheels (two leading wheels and four driving wheels).
- This is the first episode to show the school that Sector V goes to.
- The Six-Gum Gang's Rocket Horses are a parody of a rocking horse.
- Many fans believe that this episode and the next episode (Operation: F.O.U.N.T.A.I.N.) are connected as the episode ends with the students at school and the next one takes place at school.
Series Continuity[]
- Numbuh 4's stupidity is perpetuated in this episode with his horrible homework.
- Many fans have stated that this episode and the next one (Operation: F.O.U.N.T.A.I.N.) to be linked since the episode ends with the kids at school and the next episode takes place at school.
- The school bus returns in Season 6 episode, Operation: C.R.I.M.E..
- Gallagher Elementary School continues to be a recurring location through the series from now on.
- Numbuh 5's has her homework stolen/ruined next in Operation: H.O.U.N.D..
Pop Culture References[]
- The episode was inspired by Murder on the Orient Express, as well as other train robbery films.
Errors/Goofs[]
- The kids' seating on the bus change around a lot between scenes.
- The same kids can be seen pased several times by Numbuh 5 and 4.
- A teenage nerd is sitting on the school bus, but Gallagher Elementary School only goes to fifth grade.
- Numbuh 4 goes from not wearing his backpack, to suddenly wearing it, in the shots before and after Numbuh 5 first see Dixie outside of the bus.
- Numbuh 5 and 4 sat down in the back of a carriage but are never seen back past by the Six-Gum Gang. In fact, they appear to be seated at the front of the carriage when Runt and Lunk enter the carriage to rob them.
- When Numbuh 4 grabs Runt, the seats on the other side of the aisle ae empty, which they were not earlier.
- Numbuh 5 pulls her homework out of Numbuh 4's backpack when she hands it to Lunk.
- Runt's bag of homework disappears when Numbuh 4 starts chasing him on Goof's Rocket Horse.
- Wilbur drops his bag when he's hit by Numbuh 5 and it disappears.
- Wilbur also disappears after he lands by Dixie's feet.
- The gum in Numbuh 4's hair moves around and changes size.
- In the scene where Numbuh 4 is hit by Runt, he is clearly travelling down the street, and not through back yards.
- Runt is also clearly going down a street when Numbuh 4 jumps on his Rocket Horse.
- Numbuh 5 has somehow bound up Goof on the school bus, but Goof crashed into a mailbox and was left there.
- The Six-Gum Gang appears unharmed from the big crash.
- The Six-Gum Gang's gum guns appear out of nowhere.
- The DCFDTL are not sitting at their desk when we see the overview of the classroom, as their seat is empty.
- Only Alessandra is sitting on a chair, the rest of the DCFDTL appears to be sitting on air. However if one were to look closely, the rest of them are all standing up instead.
